The F1 small is a compact mallet that packs a surprising punch.  This stick is incredibly versatile.  It comfortably plays gongs as small as 18”  and as large as 60”.  It elicits an immediate response from the gong with a beautiful spread of high and low overtones.  The low-profile disc shaped core is bolstered by two steel weights and is covered in a layer of soft felt and synthetic Sherpa.  It is an easy-playing stick that is super maneuverable but still capable of a rich, full sound.

Description

The Dragonfly Resonance Series FRSF series consists of three gong mallets on birch laminate handles by a master baton maker and are visually stunning.  The handles have a slight taper and a small knob on the bottom end.  This design perfectly balances the heavy cores of each model.  Each mallet is wrapped in high-quality synthetic Sherpa fleece.  

A removable eye bolt is threaded into the bottom of the stick and sports a color-coded hanging strap for easy identification of each mallet.

Om Chau Gong Highly Recommended

I was looking for a portable gong that had minimal "clash/ cymbal" or shrill sounds, and looking for one with a deeper, resonant and reverberant sound. I thought that would be limited by a portable gong size, such as the 28 " one that I purchased. I listened to the sound samples from the videos on the gong shop website. The Om Chau gong had the closest to the sound I was looking for. When I used it for the first time, I was shocked in a great way. I never thought a 28" gong could have such a deep, reverberant sound that was exactly what I was looking for. It was better than I expected! Using the Dragonfly Resonance RSF2 Mallet also made a huge difference in the depth of sound achieved as opposed to the mallet that was included. No high clash/ cymbal sound at all (although with different mallets and struck at the right spot, I'm sure that's possible too). The Tone of Life Flumies Friction mallets gave that echo whale sound that I never knew a gong could produce. The Chronos Gong Stand CA32, as recommended, was easy to set up and affordable, perfect for mobile use. I'm very happy I went with the 28" Om Chau gong! An amazing sound at a great price, and also has a very cool look to it.
